Diane Babral Scholarship Established

Dear JMU Nursing friends, graduates, faculty, staff and students,

As you know, we lost a dear colleague and professor in nursing recently, Diane Babral. Diane personified what it meant to be a caring, thoughtful, encouraging faculty member and was passionate about nursing, specifically psychiatric nursing. She was a strong advocate for our vulnerable mentally ill members of society. In memory of Professor Babral, JMU nursing students have established a scholarship for an undergraduate nursing student who is interested in pursuing psychiatric nursing.

I ask that you consider supporting this endowed scholarship fund with your donations. The fund is fully endowed at $25,000 and at that time, scholarship support will begin. JMU Nursing and psychiatric nursing in general has suffered a great loss, but out of that loss can come support for a nurse who wants to impact the care of the mentally ill. Diane would have been thrilled that her memory would inspire the future generation of nurses to consider psychiatric nursing practice.

If you would like to remember Professor Babral through the Diane Babral Scholarship Endowment in Nursing, donations may be made at http://www.jmu.edu/give/index.shtml (select "make your gift now", click on OTHER under the START GIVING section in the bottom left corner and then click on other at the bottom of the "choose your gift designation" and enter Diane Babral Scholarship Endowment in Nursing and #16423 in the "special instructions"). Once we have the scholarship in the system, it will be easier to access for donations.

Best Wishes,
Julie
