RN/BSN: Admission
Admission to the RN-BSN program of study in Nursing is competitive. To be considered for admission to the program, prospective students must:
- Complete the Supplemental Application for RN-BSN Program and mail to the attention of Dr. Vicki Martin. Once approved for admission in to the RN-BSN program, general admission into JMU can proceed.
Supplemental Application: [In Word] [In Acrobat] - Apply for general admission through the JMU Admissions Department (http://www.jmu.edu/admissions). Applications can be mailed to the attention of Jessica Jancaitis, JMU Admissions. In the top right corner of the application, write in Nursing Program: RN-BSN.
- Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing from a state approved program.
- Transcripts reflecting a cumulative GPA on all college work attempted of 2.8 or better on a 4-point scale.
- TOEFL scores greater than 550 for international applicants
- Current unrestricted RN license in any state, Washington D.C., or a U.S possession or territory.
- Graduates of foreign nursing schools, who are licensed outside of the United States, are required to pass the Qualifying Exam of the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS)
- Employment as an RN for a minimum of six months or plans to practice concurrently with coursework.
- Ability to meet the department's Technical Standards for nursing practice (posted on the nursing website).
Application Deadline:
Full and part-time students will be admitted in August of each year. Applications are processed on a rolling admission basis until the class fills. Applicants who apply prior to March 1 will be given first consideration.
